Say Ok Featuring:

For someone who only produced his first track in the spring last year, Grum’s rise to prominence has been one of Justice-style proportions. Since tracks such as “Heartbeats” first started appearing on blogs like Discodust, Grum’s music has been in such demand that HYPE MACHINE recently calculated he was the second most blogged act in the world, behind Radiohead.

Grum’s super-cool D.I.Y. ethic and taste for electronic music old and new means he’s probably our hottest tip since Aeroplane first took off – Ralph Moore, Mixmag

If Grum is what the future of electronic music sounds like (and we’re pretty sure he is), save us a spot on the dancefloor – Luke Crisell, Nylon

FOALS http://feedingthefrenzy.com/blog/2010/06/29/foals/ http://feedingthefrenzy.com/blog/2010/06/29/foals/#comments Wed, 30 Jun 2010 00:04:48 +0000 Flat Black http://feedingthefrenzy.com/blog/?p=1472

Earlier this month British band Foals released their second studio album Total Life Forever. You want this album. Everything you loved about Antidotes and more =] So in light of the new release I see it only fit to post a few remixes. First is one by G.e.R.M. and is a remix of This Orient, a new track on this album. Great vibe the whole way through with a bangn’ electro hook by the middle of the song. I’m also posting a couple older tracks off Antidotes, one being a new remix of an old song and one is just a favorite of mine that I’m pretty sure I never posted when it came out. Enjoy the tunes and go buy this album! Welcome Summer. =]

Foals – This Orient (G.e.R.M. Remix)

Foals – Electric Bloom (FiSK Remix)

Foals – Olympic Airways (Supermayer Remix)

Gigamesh of DiscoTech & Señor Stereo

Gigamesh // DiscoTech // Señor Stereo

Gigamesh is best described as a “new millenium musician”: someone who is a jack of all trades, and master of none. He is a multi-instrumentalist, remix artist, DJ, engineer and producer (recently adding a Billboard single to his résumé), but he readily admits that none of those activities is enough to hold his interest for very long.

First gaining attention with his work as a producer in DiscoTech, Gigamesh is a name known worldwide by open-format club DJs. However, he considers that his ‘day job’. His real interests lie in forward-thinking music that can’t be easily categorized or digested by casual music listeners. His most well known song outside of the pop realm is a remix of Radiohead’s Everything in its Right Place, which has found its way to the top 10 on Hype Machine multiple times. He also made an official remix of Classixx huge nu-disco hit ‘I’ll Get You’ that saw rotation on popular BBC mixshows and in clubs around the world. Recently Gigamesh has stumbled into being a pop producer as his remix of Mike Posner’s Cooler Than Me was chosen over the original to get an official release on J Records (labeled ‘Single Mix’, it was at #19 and rising on Billboard Dance 100 as of this writing).

Along with his own material, Gigamesh is also a member of the group Señor Stereo. June 29th is the release date of their first EP on Slow Roast Records.

Here’s that remix of Mike Posner’s “Cooler Than Me” as well as other Gigamesh & DiscoTech tunes. Enoy! =]

Mike Posner – Cooler Than Me (Gigamesh Remix)

Jackson 5 – Dancing Machine (Gigamesh Remix)

Lykke Li – Little Bit (Gigamesh Remix)

Michael Jackson – Thriller (DiscoTech Remix)

DiscoTech – She’s Devastating

There’s those songs out there that from the moment you start them you know it’s going to be an amazing track that hits the soul in a way that is almost unexplainable. This does that x10. I’m not sure if there’s anyone out there that can compare to the way I feel about Florence’s voice. This track is truly amazing, epic even =] Short Club really nailed it with this remix. I guarantee you will have this one on repeat.

Featured Release On Addictech: Link

There is something happening on the West Coast with fresh new labels and artists constantly popping up at the edge, and we aim to expose this talent.

Launched in mid-2009, Simplify Recordings is a Seattle based multi-genre imprint, dedicated to the best in all things bass. This up and coming label’s next release is from Danny Beall, a San Jose Dubstep and Glitch producer better known as NiT GriT.

Gaining recognition in the booming West Coast bass music scene, NiT GriT’s debut release on Simplify features three dirty bass bangers. Beall’s offerings “DMT”, “What Am I”, and “Synthetic Heaven” tell a story of dark and twisted melodies complete with edgey atmospherics, bitcrushed synths, and gnarly bass.

Gigamesh Interview / Mixes http://feedingthefrenzy.com/blog/2010/06/21/gigamesh-interview-mixes/ http://feedingthefrenzy.com/blog/2010/06/21/gigamesh-interview-mixes/#comments Mon, 21 Jun 2010 23:01:06 +0000 Sean Majors http://feedingthefrenzy.com/blog/?p=1417

SM: I’m gonna get the big question right out of the way. Number 19 on Billboard Dance Chart!!!  You’ve got to be flippin out a little bit?  Give us the story on the Posner track…

G: Yeah it’s pretty nuts.  Mike’s manager was also managing Wale a year ago when I entered a remix contest hosted by RCRDLBL which featured a verse from Wale (the song was Daniel Merriweather – Change).  I didn’t end up winning the contest but Mike’s manager sent my stuff to Mike and they were both into it.  They hired me to do a remix of Cooler Than Me and it just kind of grew from there.  He started using it in his live sets and when they decided to make a radio version of it I just let them call it ‘Single Mix’ for easy promotion.

SM: We’re really excited to have you at Trashed, we feel like you embody the front edge of what’s great about dance music right now.  Can you fill us in on your background and how Gigamesh came to be?  Where do the projects with Discotech and Senor Stereo stand today/in the future?

G: I was originally just producing behind the scenes for DiscoTech but eventually decided to start doing my own stuff on the side and get some DJ gigs so I came up with Gigamesh.  I was playing in a band at the time but decided to quit and take the DJ/producer stuff more seriously.  As DiscoTech, we’re starting to get into producing original material for major label artists.  Señor Stereo is more our ‘baby’ where we make the kind of dance music we’re really into.  We plan on doing a lot with this project in the coming year.

SM: We played together about a year ago and you did a great job with a less than ideal set up. Sick tracks and great mixing. I was really impressed.  You seem like a guy that has the chops for both, where do you stand on live performance vs. dj set?

G: I definitely lean more in the direction of live performance, and am currently exploring ways to make my DJ sets more into a live show.  I may bust out some vocoder &/or talk box at the Baltic Room if I can get it ready in time. :)

SM: Who’s turning you on in dance music right now?

G: I’m really into wonky hip-hop producers like Onra, Lone, and Paul White lately.  In terms of dance music, Mehdi & Riton’s new project ‘Carte Blanche’ is great, as well as modern disco producers like Tensnake, Joakim, Rory Philips and Den Haan.

SM: You’ve had a pretty amazing 2010, what’s the rest of the year got in store for you?

G: There will likely be a lot of new stuff coming from Señor Stereo and hopefully a Gigamesh EP by the end of the year.  I’m moving from Minneapolis to Miami in a couple months, so lots of sexy women and beaches are also in store.

SM: Thanks, we’ll see you in a couple weeks at Trashed vol. 6!

Here’s two older mixes by Gigamesh and  he’ll have a new one for Trashed Mix Series later this week.
